LED Corn Lamps were created to replace HID lamps, metal halide, and high-pressure sodium lamps, and provide great improvements in energy efficiency and reduced power costs. They are called LED Corn Lamps or maize lamps because of their unique corn cob shape. Each square LED looks like a corn kernel running along the side of the light.
Most light sources on the market have a reach of around 270 degrees while the reach for the LED Corn light is a full 360 degrees. Our products are available in 40W or 80W with anywhere from 5200 to 12000 lumens for a range of brightness and visibility. This represents 130-150 lumens per watt which is highly efficient.
LED Corn lights used to be largely manufactured using plastic since plastic greatly reduces production costs. However, plastic does not cool efficiently so lately most manufacturers have switched to using aluminum materials. The switch to an aluminum body also increases their lifespan to about 3-5 years or 50,000 hours.
This lighting system is perfect for industrial, commercial, and residential lighting and has already become quite popular. This has helped lead to the decline in using the more traditional, less environmentally friendly lighting solutions. Below we will briefly show you where you can use such lights and why picking this lighting system maybe a good option for your customers.
Where are LED Corn Lamps used?
LED Corn Lamps have numerous applications. They are most notably used for outdoor lighting, however, they can also be used to light up your indoor locations such as with high bay lighting conditions. They are often found on street lamps for lighting residential roads and sidewalks or secondary urban roads. They also work well as garden lights. Basically, anywhere you may have used HID lighting in the past may be a good option for LED Corn Lamps now.
What are the benefits of using LED Corn Lamps?
There are several factors involved that make LED Corn Lamps energy powerhouses and an ideal alternative to traditional HID lighting. Number one is that they last longer so your clients can save on maintenance, replacement bulbs, and labor hours.
Not only do they last longer, but they are able to retain more of their lumens over time than metal halide bulbs. This means that they will not only turn on and off quickly and reliably at the light switch, but they will maintain much of their brightness for the life of the lamp.
LED Corn light’s high energy conversion means that 85% of that energy is turned into light instead of heat. Now your customers won’t have to worry about increased HVAC costs heat-producing lighting.
The other advantage to using this type of lighting is its high safety factor. The fact that these lights, as was mentioned earlier, have low heat production means that they largely work with relatively low voltages as opposed to their incandescent and fluorescent counterparts. In dangerous areas such as mines and the like, using these lights will not have any security risks.
This light also happens to be quite durable and shatterproof. They do not break easily as compared to traditional lighting bulbs. Instead of being manufactured with glass shells, the high-quality aluminum or plastic housing found on LED Corn lights make them shock and vibration resistant, reducing the likeliness of breakage. This casing also gives them the ability to survive through severe weather conditions making them ideal for outdoor use.
Lastly, LED Corn lights have a much longer lifespan compared to incandescent and fluorescent light bulbs. They are usually referred to as the “long lasting lights.” This long life is due to the fact they produce very low levels of heat and are known to be precise with their lighting meaning they illuminate the exact areas the user desires.
